Service Delivery Level Review: International Airline Representatives Met with FAAN Management. Middle is Mr Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection
International airlines flying into Nigeria have frowned at the gross lack of adequate signage, which is essential for safe operations, especially during the ongoing massive reconstruction of the nation’s famous international gateway, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Observation of this gross lack of safety-critical elements was orally made to the airport management at a parley hosted by the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, at the Chinese-built second international terminal building.
The foreign airline operators emphasised that the lack of signage at both the landside and the airside of the terminal deserved reconsideration in order to circumvent possible incidents that inadequacy could instigate.
The attention of the airport manager- FAAN- was also called to the clear and present danger that unclear, indelible, or non-markings at the ramp portend for every individuals, equipment and organisation concerned with safe and smart ground operations.
They noted that the lack of ramp markings could inadvertently jeopardized safe ground operation and pleaded that the airport managers do the needful without much ado.
Another representative present brought to the host’s attention the inconvenience experienced by both the crew and passengers due to the lack of sufficient lifts in the terminal.
According to a media statement by FAAN, the international airlines representatives appeal on behalf of the passengers for the provision by the airport manager of “a greater support to enhance customer experience”.
Also mentioned as needed and too early to become an issue is the epileptic service by the shuttle bus taking cognizance of the recently launched eco-friendly luxurious buses and salon cars all for exciting experience of the passengers and the airport staff.
In a media statement, Mr. Agbebire, Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated that “the session was aimed at fostering a stronger working relationship between the Department of Protocol and Passages, and airline operators, while also providing an opportunity to listen to some of the challenges of the airlines”
Agbebire “assured stakeholders that all complaints and observations raised during the meeting would be carefully reviewed with a view to improving service delivery and operational standards across the airports”.

Concession of Airport Terminal Building Services, which are purely non-Aeronautical, to private company as MM2 is to Bicourtney, as Nahco had been from FAAN and as Sahcol is from Nigeria Airways, etc. Right now, FAAN and its political front-runners in the government administration are looking for N712bn to build the terminal and insurance money to pay those whose facilities got burnt in the terminal building; and you are asking FAAN not to lower comfort and therefore service charges. Where do you expect the funds for all these to come from???
The burnt terminal is what FAAN reverted to and foot soldiers in the Ministry, to Bicourtney, MM2 Regional Terminal after 20 years.
There are more to come with the Passengers’ Services Problems in the FAAN Terminals.
Wait and be seeing.
