All airlines still in default of remitting the accumulated Ticket Sales Charge, TSC, have been given a seven-day ultimatum from today to settle their outstanding sum in respect of the TSC which they collected upfront in behalf of the federal government.
According to the media statement jointly signed by the two unions flexing to act as debt collector for the federal government, the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, and the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, the 14-Day initial Ultimatum had expired on Thursday, 23rd of July 2026.
The unions, however, lamented that the airlines had willfully reneged on complying, and the unions will be left with the last lap of labour procedures preceding picketing.
The unions claimed in their statement that in view of the recalcitrant posture of the defaulting airlines, “we can no longer helplessly fold our hands and allow the safety of our airspace to remain compromised”.

Hence, the unions declared thus, “We hereby issue a 7-Day Notice to every TSC defaulter to remit the total debt owed to the Agencies; failure to do so will result in our Unions’ concrete actions at their various premises”.
Both unions highlighted the consequence of continued denial of government agencies their statutory revenue line thus “the Aviation Agencies remain starved of the required funds to keep our sky safe”.
Their statement added, “the Conditions of Service of our members in the various agencies continue to be jeopardized because of the non-remittance of the TSC. This unnecessary demotivation factor to the air transport worker is a security and safety risk”, the statement noted.
Succinctly put, the latest and the last condition which is thw seven (7) days ultimatum would also come to expiration on Tuesday, 4th of August 2026.
It is expected the parties concern will do the needful to prevent disruption to the public peace and orderliness existing in the nation’s air transport industry.
