NSIB says an investigation into the collision between a train, a bus, is at full throttle

A train operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, plowed through a Lagos State Government staff bus at the PWD intersection, on the Ikeja-Oshodi highway, Lagos State
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, is already in full throttle on the investigation of the collision between a train and a bus, last Thursday, at an intersection in PWD, connecting Ikeja GRA, along Oshodi-Ikeja highway, in Lagos State.
Sequel to the diligent and highly impeccable findings expected from the exercise, the bureau is now soliciting from the general public, information such as pictures, video, and other forms of recording shreds of evidence to help assist in conducting a comprehensive investigation.
The train involved was among the fleet managed by the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, with the registration number 2215 while the Lagos State Government staff bus involved was from the fleet of Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, and with registration number 04A-48LA,

This accident investigation marks the first train accident investigation embarked upon by the Bureau since its establishment under the NSIB Act 2022.
The statement explained that “NSIB is a multimodal investigation agency charged with the mandate to investigate transportation accidents and serious incidents in Nigeria with the aim of identifying the probable causes and proffer safety recommendations that can prevent reoccurrence”.
