A Max Air passenger flight number VM1623, with registration mark 5N-BBM, has made a safe air return to Maiduguri International Airport where the flight was originally initiated.
According to the media statement from Max Air, the flight commander initiated the air return “due to an observed abnormality in the engine parameters during ascent”.
The airline’s statement affirmed that the decision to return to base conformed with the Standard Operational Procedures.
The airline said the “affected engine was shut down, and the aircraft landed safely at the Maiduguri International Airport. All passengers and crew members were safely disembarked and unharmed”.

The statement further revealed that due to “Max Air’s commitment to passenger safety and comfort, a rescue aircraft was promptly dispatched to Maiduguri to ensure passengers reached their destinations with minimal delay”.
The airline thus appeals “we deeply regret any inconvenience caused and sincerely appreciate the patience and cooperation of all affected passengers”.
However, Max Air claimed to be “working closely with concerned aviation authorities to investigate the cause of the engine abnormality”.
It stated further that, “as a leading airline in Nigeria, we remain committed to upholding the highest safety and operational standards, and not wavering on the trust and confidence of our valued passengers,” Max Air pledged.
