AERO Bags MRO of the Year Award, 2021

The over sixty years old domestic operator with a distinguished performance record as airline, Aero, has again recorded impressive landmark through its maintenance outfit, and found worthy of recognition to earn the “MRO of the year award.”

The award was given at a well-attended ceremony held at the Lagos airport where other industry players in all the phases of aviation value chain were present and those deserving were accordingly recognized as adjudged by the Editorial crew and the award committee as constituted by the board of directors and management of Air Transport Quarterly Magazine.

For the second time in two years, Nigeria’s oldest private airline, Aero Contractors, has again clinched the ”MRO of the year award.

According to the citation, the top flying industry magazine “nominated the airline for the award following its outstanding maintenance checks on B737 Classics aircraft and other third party repairs, all with track record of perfection”.

The Editor-in-Chief/Chief Executive, ATQ Magazine, organizers of the award, Prince Supo Atobatele, said “with this modest record of achievements in recent time, as the oldest airline in the country, we are not in doubt that the management under Captain Abdullahi Mahmood, has redefined airline Management in Nigeria despite the seemingly harsh prevailing operating environment”.

Prince Atobatele said the organizers intention was to let award winners be aware they were being noticed for whatever they might be doing in their own beat and the spur them on to make excellent service delivery their hallmark.

The veteran aviation news manager added that, “the award will spur the management and the workforce to double their efforts in the drive to becoming a reference of excellence not only in Nigeria but in the Continent of Africa”.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr Chris Aligbe, urged recipients not to relent in the drive of giving their best to achieve quick recovery and steady growth of the air transport industry.

Aligbe however, enjoined the organizers to look inward in search of deserving individuals past or present, that might have contributed to aviation development and worthy of recognition.
