Aviation Minister, Sen. Hadi Sirika, has directed the latest agency of the Federal Government, National Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, to commence without delay, a thorough investigation into the collision between a Yaba Lagos bound train from Ibadan, Oyo State, and a luxurious Staff bus conveying civil servants to the government secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The collision occurred Thursday morning when, a train rammed into a moving staff bus at the intersection in PWD, along Oshodi-Ikeja road. The bus was heading for the government secretariat via Adeyinka Adebayo way, Ikeja GRA when the lives of 84 staff in the bus suddenly came under life-threatening collision in a road and rail crash.
A statement by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said two persons died at the scene of the accident, while four others died on their arrival at the Ikeja General Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.
Thus making six, the total number of casualties for now. Others with various degrees of injuries were being attended to at the accident emergency unit of the well-equipped teaching hospital.

However, the Aviation Minister described the accident as unfortunate. Sirika assured the public of the capacity of the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the accident and proffer ways of preventing reoccurrence in the future.
Sirika solicited the cooperation of members of the public as the investigation by the NSIB team commences.
He commiserated with the government and people of Lagos state, especially those who lost their loved ones, on the sad event, and prayed for quick recovery of those injured and recuperating in the hospital..
