Dr Richard Aisuebeogun, after delivering the Matriculation Lecture to students and the university community, 2nd July 2026
Aim at the sky; you may end up on the rooftop. Aim at the rooftop; you may end up under it, is the philosophy and academic principle students at the African Aviation and Aerospace University, AAAU, have been persuaded to imbibe.
The fresh undergraduates, older ones in different levels and the postgraduate students of the African Aviation & Aerospace University in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, have been urged to be very serious about their academic work right at the onset of their studies, as the university management would not compromise its benchmark that must be attained before a student is awarded the university’s certificates.
Dr Richard Aisuebeogun gave the timely reminder as the keynote Speaker at the university’s 3rd matriculation lecture, penultimate Thursday, at the university’s auditorium, Abuja.

He also urged the students to be mindful of the prevailing policy- 70% benchmark score- which has assumed the standard in air transport institutions globally.
While delivering his lecture with the team, “Transforming Africa through Aviation and Aerospace Education: The AAAU Vision”, Dr Aisuebeogun emphasised to the students the importance of aligning personal aspirations with the University’s vision.
He encouraged the matriculating students to continually reflect on the AAAU Vision and ensure that their academic and professional goals remain consistent with the institution’s mission of transforming Africa through excellence in aviation and aerospace education.

He also challenged members of the academic community to ensure that the University’s vision serves as the foundation for their teaching philosophy and academic culture, thereby fostering an environment that promotes innovation, excellence, and global competitiveness.
Aisuebeogun further urged the students to strive for exceptional academic performance. He reiterated to them that the aviation industry maintains rigorous standards, where a minimum score of 70% is generally regarded as the benchmark for success in professional aviation examinations.
He therefore encouraged his audience to cultivate a culture of excellence from the outset of their academic journey.
