Hadi Sirika reminds the contractor 29th May delivery date is sacrosanct

The construction company building the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja has been charged to do all within its means to ensure delivery of the runway on or before the terminal date of the outgoing regime, on 29th May 2023.

Sen Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation gave the charge during an inspection tour of the project on Monday, in the company of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Muhammad Bello.

Sirika expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister for his maximum cooperation in granting 12000 hectares of land for the proposed aviation city.


He said the proposed aviation city project will comprise everything a modern city deserves such as hotels, shopping malls, schools, cinemas, and hospitals to mention a few.

The Aviation Minister added that the project contains numerous facilities such as the cargo hub and a hub for the national carrier. He simply described the proposed aviation city as a legacy project.

Sirika further explained that the aviation city will boost the economic activities of the FCT and by extension the entire country.

He said when completed the aviation city would serve as a base for the aviation leasing company and would have the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, offices, and its laboratories.

Responding, the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Bello. Pledged his total support for the project just as he expressed delight in the employment generation potential of the project which he noted the youths and the indigenes would reap many benefits.

Bello also reiterated the delivery date 0f 29th May to the contractor and implored the leadership of the firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, to leave no stone unturned in keeping to the delivery date as the regime would wind down on that date.
