Aerospace added to aviation ministry as Kano, Abuja Airports concession tenure pegged at 30, 20 years respectively

Nigeria’s Federal Government has accepted the proposal to rename the aviation ministry and at its Federal Executive Council, FEC, Wednesday, ratified the adoption of the new name, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace of Nigeria.
The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, who made the announcement at the end of the FEC meeting said the change became very imperative to re-align the ministry with the realities in the fast-changing world.
Sirika argued that the modern imperatives and the palpable advancement such that aviation and aerospace were intertwined compelled the federal government of the need to proactively set its policies to align with the future which is even already here.
He linked the development to the establishment of the African Aerospace and Aviation University in Abuja.
Hadi Sirika also announced that the council had approved the concession of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, in Kano.
The Minister said the Abuja airport would be concessioned for 20 years, while that of Kano would be concessioned for 30 years
