The Lagos State Ministry of Health wishes all residents an exciting Africa Cup of Nations Final, AFCON, commonly referred to as the TotalEnergies, as we support the Super Eagles to victory starting from 21.OOhours this evening, Sunday, 11th February 2024.
Residents are hereby advised to prioritize their health and well-being while enjoying football matches or any other intense activities.
Here are some essential tips strongly recommended for consideration and adoption by Lagosians and Nigerians in general, especially soccer buffs.
KNOW YOUR LIMITS
Understand your physical limitations and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any underlying health conditions before engaging in activities that could potentially exacerbate them.
STAY HYDRATED AND NOURISHED
Crowded poorly ventilated hot environments should be avoided with attention to good hydration. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, and ensure you drink plenty of water and eat nutritious foods to keep your body fueled and hydrated, especially during prolonged periods of sitting and watching the game.
TAKE REGULAR BREAKFAST
Stand up, stretch, and move around periodically to prevent stiffness and promote circulation. This can also help maintain alertness and prevent fatigue.
MAINTAIN GOOD POSTURE
Sit in a comfortable chair with proper back support and avoid slouching to reduce strain on your muscles and spine.
STAY CALM AND RELAXED

VIEWING CENTERS TO POSSESS FIRST AIDS/ENGAGE TRAINED MEDICAL PERSONNEL
We also urge viewing centres to ensure that venues, where football matches are watched, have adequate medical facilities and trained personnel on hand to respond swiftly in case of emergencies. This can make a significant difference in outcomes.

NIGERIANS WHO DIED DURING THE SUPER EAGLES vs BAFANA BAFANA MATCH
Four Nigerians died as a result of shocks during the tension-soaked semifinal match where the Super Eagles ultimately defeated the Bafana Bafana of South Africa through a penalty shoot-out. The outcome was 6 goals to 5 in favour of the Super Eagles.
Among the four people who died were the following; a Nigerian Businessman, Chief Osondu Nwoye. He passed on while watching Nigeria and South Africa’s game.
A University Staff, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi also passed on while watching the game. He was the Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University, KWASU.
Another victim was a former Nigerian Lawmaker, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh also passed on while watching the AFCON game.
Nigerian graduate and Corps member, Samuel also passed on while watching the game.
