Airport Assures Passengers of Hospitality as Extortioners Urge to Resign or Risk Jail

Travelers that will be making use of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, have been re-assured of a smooth, courteous, and unhindered passage at the airport throughout the festive period and beyond.
While perpetrators of all manners of vices that have severally brought disrepute to the airport, MMIA, have been sternly warned to either turn a new leaf, resign, or toy with the wrath of the law which could culminate in termination of employment and, or imprisonment.
Mr Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, Managing Director of the holding company that manages over 24 airports in the country including MMIA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, said through technology, the airport management now ensures a closer watch over individual staff at the facility irrespective of government agencies a culprit represents
Mohammed disclosed that FAAN management had stepped up its game by engaging the services of “MYSTERY STAFF” at the four international airports of the country.
He explained that the “Mystery Staff” task is to maintain an eagle eye on the activities of individual staff with his/her physical and biometry data and report any infraction to the management.
The MD made these remarks during the One-day sensitization program on Airport Council International, ACI, Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Initiative organized by the Directorate of Airport Operations at the Conference room of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport MMIA, Ikaja,
The MD in his keynote address expressed displeasure at the poor reputation MMIA had earned due to extortion from passengers and warned that anyone caught with any form of nefarious act this Christmas and New Year season will be subjected to the full wrath of the law.
Kabir Mohammed challenged representatives of all the government agencies that operate at the airport namely; Customs, Immigration, Plant Quarantine, Police, and all others to be at their absolute best when interfacing between the airport/government and the travelers.
He, however, reminded everyone that there are everywhere active digital cameras with real-time and online recording, and whoever is caught doing anything that will bring the airport’s name into disrepute, will be heavily sanctioned.
Mohammed noted that all the agencies that work at the airport were culpable in the said breaches, and added that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will not tolerate any longer, embarrassment from the ignoble acts and deeds of other government agencies’ personnel at the airport.
He advocated for the spirit of collaboration and noted that often, passengers can’t distinguish the difference in personnel that treated them badly, only the airport where they were not well treated will continue to get public opprobrium.
The ACI ASQ sensitization event was championed by the Directorate of Airport Operations headed by Captain Mukhtar Yusuf Muye.
