AIRSPACE MANAGERS CHARGED TO STRICTLY OBSERVE COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL

Airspace managers saddled with vectoring aircraft and controlling aircraft movement at the aerodrome, ensuring hassles free navigation for over flyers and with the mandate to facilitate safe landing and takeoff, have been charged to stay safe from contracting the dangerous COVID-19 infection by observing all the prescribed {covid-19} safety protocols as enunciated by the World Health Organization, WHO, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, various state governments and the Management of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA.

The Managing Director, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, Capt Fola Akinkuotu, gave the charge while welcoming back to work, the staff of the agency, in conforming to the partial easing of the lockdown which took effect on 4th May, as announced by President Mohammadu Buhari on Monday, 27th April 2020.

Capt. Fola Akinkuotu who, minced no word to emphasize that “the health and wellbeing of workers are of utmost importance to the management”, reminded both the junior and senior workers that easing the lockdown does not in any way connotes the virus had been eliminated hence, charged them to be more than twice careful in all they do now until COVID-19 is totally eliminated in the nooks and crannies of the country.

His words, “while the health and wellbeing of workers are of utmost importance to management, a lot needs to be done by staff themselves to ensure they remain safe in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic which is still very much in our midst.”

The NAMA helmsman reminded the workers that the agency had put in place solid procedures and measures to guarantee their safety in the workplace and urged them to strive and conform with the procedures thus guaranteeing their safety while their productivity in any way will not be deterred.

Akinkuotu said that “the battle against Covid-19 is a collective one and we must all join hands with the Federal Government to triumph at the end of the day.”

It will be recalled that at the onset in March 2020, when President Mohammed Buhari directed Lagos and Ogun states including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja should be on lockdown, Capt Fola Akinkuotu, employed the social media to reach the workers and instil confidence in them.

Through the Face book, he reassured the workers that the management placed a very high premium on its workforce and would not want any to jeopardize his or her health but to strictly comply to safety protocols which the most important then was the stay at home order. He noted that a healthy workforce will be useful in the service to the nation and will also be useful to their immediate and distant family members
