A cargo ship has reportedly been attacked by pirates at around 0430 UTC on Saturday, 30th January in the Gulf of Guinea, South of Lome Togo.

According to ship tracker, the satellite revealed the Ships Track in the area indicated a bulk carrier, ROWAYTON EAGLE.

Record from the radar revealed the ship was en-route from the Canary Islands to Lagos Nigeria.

Crimean Shipping News reported the ship stopped and then began to loop around on 27th Jan, most likely waiting for the signal to grant it assurance to proceed to Lagos port.

It was reported that as at 0600 UTC 30th January, she was either drifting or moving dead ahead in attack area.

The report said, “If ROWAYTON EAGLE was attacked, she was probably boarded. Awaiting ID confirmation and updates”.
