FAAN MD Lauds Lagos Governor For Partnership in Airport Road Rehabilitation

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has been persuaded by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority Of Nigeria, FAAN, Mrs Oluwabunmi Oluwaseun Kukufo, to collaborate with the airport managers- FAAN- on the road overhaul and rehabilitation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos road beginning from the Toll Gate Plaza axis, and Gate 13, known as the Airport Service Road.
Mrs Kuku thanked the Lagos State Government for consenting to collaborate with FAAN on the road rehabilitation and overhaul project.
Although work on the road started last Saturday, 12th October yet, Mrs Kuku was full of gratitude to Governo Sanwo-Olu saying, “I also want to thank the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajode Sanwo-Olu, for partnering with us to ensure the speedy completion of this particular project”, Kuku stated.
She further expressed her gratitude for the collaboration with the Lagos State Government thus, “This collaboration is an example of the kind of productive partnerships we are open to encouraging at FAAN, for us to make the experience of our passengers as pleasant as possible”, Kuku volunteered.
She, however, beckoned to high net worth individuals and other corporate organizations and even local governments to reach out to FAAN for other partnerships that would positively impact air travel at both the nation’s international and domestic airports all over the country.
Bunmi Kuku however, expressed gratitude to her boss, Mr Festus Keyamo, Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister, for creating the enabling environment which had enabled the FAAN CEO and her management team to creatively take head-on challenges bedevilling the terminals prior to the present administration assumption of office.
She enthused “I also want to thank the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his leadership and guidance. His commitment and eye for details have kept us on our toes, and we are glad that he continues to provide oversight on our work.”
According to a media statement by FAAN, signed by Obiageli Orah, (Mrs), Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, “the project work includes the complete road reconstruction, improvisation on drainages on both sides of the road, provision of decent and spacious sidewalks, and streetlights”.
The entire project duration is expected to be delivered in nine months, and the road users would thereafter heave a sigh of relief.
Mrs Kuku however appealed to members of the airport community, passengers and the general public to exercise some form of restraints as traffic may be slightly hampered but with cooperation that stretch of the road would be delivered for pleasurable motoring.
She made the appeal last Saturday, 12th October, while on an inspection tour of the road rehabilitation project on going between the Toll Gate Plaza and Gate 13, known as the Service Road of the airport.
While expressing satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work done so far, she pleaded for the cooperation of road users especially drivers, to follow all diversions that may be prescribed by the site engineers so as to muzzle excuses for the delivery of the 2.4 kilometers road as requested in the contract agreement- nine (9) months duration.
