Gombe Gov’s convoy crashes, one dead, others injured

The convoy of the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has involved in a crash on Thursday, which left one person dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The accident reportedly occurred when the convoy was returning from Bauchi to Gombe State after the North East Governors’ meeting held in Bauchi
It was confirmed that the driver of the press crew vehicle, Babangida, died on the spot while the Director-General, Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, among other journalists sustained injuries and were rushed to the state Specialist Hospital in Gombe.
The DG, Press Affairs, was said to be in the vehicle along with other journalists, who accompanied the Governor to Bauchi for the meeting when the incident happened.
The hummer bus was said to have somersaulted several times before it finally screeched to a halt.
Governor Yahaya of Gombe was in Bauchi on Wednesday 3rd March 2021, for the 4th North-East Governors’ Forum meeting in Bauchi State.
The Governor chose to pass the night in Bauchi till Thursday, 4th March, to be a part of the groundbreaking ceremony on the foundation laying ceremony for the renovation and upgrading of the Bauchi State Government’s House by the chairman of the Forum, Governor Babagana Zulum of Benue.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the crash.
