Gov Fubara Begins Uplifting PHIA To A More Traveller-Friendly Facility

Integrated rehabilitation work has begun at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State, courtesy of the state’s number one citizen, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Reconstruction of the car park in both wings of the day and night parking has started, and the necessary demolition to achieve the desired objective is progressing as planned. The car park is intended to be safer and able to shield the cars from inclement weather conditions, thus giving travellers making use of that facility value for their money.

The extensive work on the access road is progressing daily. The road expansion is visible to everyone and the old dilapidated road with numerous crocodile cracks is being scraped for a new standard asphaltic layer.

A source close to the project supervisor revealed that all the inner roads will benefit from the rehabilitation project by the Governor. The internal Roads in front of the domestic terminal and the car park have been knocked down for the emergence of befitting roads and car parks.

The expansion has dovetailed to the toll gate which we reliably learnt will be totally revamped to enhance the safety and efficiency of toll collectors and commuters.

Also in the plan is, an ideal drop-off zone that will not impede vehicular traffic and pose no threat to passengers’ movement. Construction of a dedicated drop-off Zone at the Domestic Terminal Zone (DTZ) has reached an advanced stage.

These massive infrastructure upgrade at Port Harcourt International Airport signifies the Rivers State Government’s commitment to enhancing the modernization of the airport facilities to meet international standards in the South-South region.

This initiative not only promises to elevate the airport’s status but also aims to contribute positively to the economic growth of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole, while promoting Port-Harcourt as a key travel hub in the south/South region.

Travellers and stakeholders can look forward to a more modern, efficient, and safer airport in the coming months.

The project is expected to be completed in record time. It will also achieve minimum disruption if any, to the airport operations while delivering a more efficient and attractive environment for travellers.

The obvious outcome expected from the above investment, its actualization will turn Sir Similayi Fubara, into a talk-and-do Governor.

When the integrated reconstruction project is delivered, Governor Fubara would have succeeded in the provision of a modest but functioning airport to the South-South geopolitical zone. The airport will be travellers friendly in all of its configuration
