Government identifies impatience as the bane of shorter travel time, gives kudos to obedient road users

Impatient by most drivers which often culminated in the creation of additional three lanes to a two-lane carriageway, and other motorists who dared to exhibit insanity by driving against the traffic- one-way driving- have all been identified as the bane of traffic jam/impediments on Lagos roads, nay the notoriously extended travel time.
Eliminating the above factors, no doubt will bring about a pleasurable driving experience and a lot of man-hours frittered in commuting within the metropolis would be deployed in gainful economic activities which will surely positively impact the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of Lagos State.
These critical findings were highlighted in the media statement by the Lagos State Government, which commended the good Citizens of the State who had endured and persevered in the course of the rehabilitation works on-going within the State.
Albeit, in the statement released by the Ministry of Transportation, the Commissioner, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, immensely thanked obedient Lagosians for their understanding for the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge for maintenance works which has now progressed to the Island-bound lane of the bridge.
The government expressed gratitude for the peoples’ cooperation in numerous other urban regeneration projects across the State.
Dr Frederic Oladeinde explained that the Government was not oblivious of the plight of the citizenry, assuring that concerted efforts were expended to completing the projects in record time, to minimize travel time and inconveniences in movement presently experienced within the State.
He urged motorists to be a little more patient while driving during this yuletide and new year festivities, and avoid alcohol and other substance abuse when driving as they could not only be a source of road crashes but the loss of lives of loved ones and breadwinners.
The Commissioner also charged Traffic Management Officers to put in their best by working transparently in line with the Lagos State Road Traffic Laws.
He added that more strategies will be implemented to reduce the inconveniences that had become a part of daily ordeals on the road.
While felicitating with the good people of Lagos State during this yuletide, the Transport Commissioner urged everyone to observe Covid-19 safety protocols in all the transportation modes in the State, so as to witness the rare priviledge of welcoming one another into the new year, 2021 just a few days away
Oladehinde urged all motorists, private and commercial drivers and owner-drivers to drive to stay alive as Lagos state government values everyone.
