The 6th Annual General Meeting held at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, has announced that its Annual General Meeting, AGM, for 2023, will be held on the 4th & 5th of October, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton Hotel.
A media statement issued by the 2023 Conference Planning Committee, and signed by its Chairman, Danlami Nmodu, and the Secretary, Olumide Iyanda, said the theme of this year’s conference is: “Nigeria: Roadmap for Socio-Economic Recovery and Sustainability”.
The statement explained the choice of the theme emanated from the current socio-political and economic realities the Nigeria state and her citizenry have to contend with in the emergence of a new set of leadership after the 2023 general elections, who are saddled with steering the affairs of the state till the next four years.
Hence, it is most logical and imperative on the part of GOCOP, as a responsible and responsive corporate citizen to make her own contributions on the best modus operandi to steer the most populous black nation in the world from poverty to prosperity and create an environment where the millions of Nigerian youths will be gainfully engaged to contribute their quota to the nation’s gross domestic product, GDP.
The keynote speaker and other distinguished guests billed for the annual event will be soon be unveiled ahead of the D day.
However, the keynote speaker for the 2022 edition of the AGM was Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. His delivered address was titled “2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Outcome.”
No less a personality is expected to do justice to this year’s lecture theme, taking cognizance of the challenges confronting the nation on nearly all fronts- safety and security, unemployment, companies winding down and multinationals leaving in droves, the exorbitant pump price of petrol, epileptic power supply, lack of infrastructure to make multimodal transportation seamless, to mention but a few.
Succinctly put, the statement assured that the planning committee pledged to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the 2023 event turned out a resounding success, as Abuja will be hosting the GOCOP Annual Conference for the first time.
