Hadi Sirika to lead agencies’ CEOs to LAAC seminar, private investors yearn for frank talk

Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika

Preparations have been concluded for the 25th edition of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents-Nigeria, LAAC-N, annual seminar, which is 48 hours ahead, to be hosted at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the Secretary of the Seminar Organizing Committee, Mr Albinus Chiedu, the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, will be the Chief Guest of Honour, while the Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), West Link Airlines, Capt. Ibrahim Mshelia, has volunteered to Preside Over the one-day event which promises to bring the crème de la crème, in the air transport industry in Nigeria under one roof both physically and virtually, to jointly address the subject.

The theme of the conference participants are expected to do justice to is: “Nigeria Aviation Industry: Management, Policy and Regulation.” It is believed that the theme would provide ample opportunity for notable aviation experts and professionals to speak on critical issues affecting the growth of the industry.

Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) would deliver the keynote address, while the Ministry of Aviation had indicated interest to be part of the event.

Equally, all the aviation agencies, including NCAA, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria and Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) have equally indicated their interest to fully participate in the one-day conference and awards.”

Other industry leaders in their own rights, have confirmed their attendance and promised to lend their voices to the very timely discussion which will unarguably help chat a course to pursue to effectively cope with the menace of covid-19 and inspire recovery and growth.

Among distinguished players in the nation’s aviation ecosystem who would contribute to the discussion are the Chairman, Governing Council, Nigeria Aviation Safety Initiative (NASI), Capt Dung Pam; Chairman, Association of Ground Handlers (AGHAN), Mr Olaniyi Adigun and General Manager, Total Nigeria Plc, Mr Rabiu Abdulmutalib.

The Organizing Secretary also mentioned that the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Air Peace, Barrister Allen Onyema, the Managing Director of Med-View Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, the CEOs of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc, and Skyways Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, Mrs Olatokunbo Fagbemi and Mr Basil Agboarumi, respectively are among those that would be physically present.

On the award for outstanding performances in various arms of the aviation value chain, five organizations and an individual have been adjudged deserving of public recognition.

Organizations found deserving of distinguished performance in one or more of their mandates are the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Peace, MMA2 and Engr. Akin Olateru, the Commissioner, AIB-N, would be honoured with performance awards during the occasion.

For this LAAC event, over 250 aviation industry professionals are expected to attend physically and virtually. Prospec across the aviation agencies, security agencies, international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, travel trade sellers and buyers and captains of the aviation industry in Nigeria.

Albinus Chiedu added that all the Covid-19 protocols as stipulated by NCAA and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) would be strictly adhered to.
