The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, continues with its fact-finding statutory obligation in the matter of Ibom Air, its hostess, Juliana Edwards, and a passenger, Ms Comfort Emmanson, who was granted amnesty by the aviation minister, Barr Festus Keyamo, ( a senior advocate in the Nigerian bar) in a case purported to be unruly conduct aboard Ibom Air.

While most parts of the southwestern states were observing a holiday on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, to commemorate the new year of the traditional worshippers, the NCAA in Abuja, met at its headquarters with Ibom Air management and its flight crew, who operated the Sunday, 10th August 2025, flight from Uyo to Lagos.

The hearing session was presided over by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, where everyone present stated nothing but the whole facts about the infractions that occurred on that fateful flight.

According to a statement by Mr Michael Achimugu, the air hostess invoved in the altercation with the passenger, Mrs Juliana Edward was granted ample opportunity and time to recant in an honest manner, all that transpired between her and the female passenger, Comfort Emmanson Mbong.

At the heels of marathon hearing and cross examination sessions Wednesday in Abuja, Thursday 21st August 2025, the Lagos regional office hosted the passenger in the eye of the storm, Ms Comfort Emmanson Mbong.

Comfort reportedly was accompanied to the meeting in Lagos by his lawyer, whose name is yet to be disclosed.

That meeting was presided over by Capt. Donald Spiff, the Director of Operations, Licensing and Training. He was ably assisted by very high senior staff representatives from the Directorate of Consumer Protection and the Legal Department.

The august guests were reportedly granted ample time to honestly recant, although it could not be confirmed whether the accused, who is already enjoying administrative amnesty, was made to speak on oath by any of the holy books before giving her testimony.

All statements affirmed that both in Abuja and Lagos, the sessions were properly recorded and classified as ultra-high confidential documents to preserve the sanctity of voluntary confession toward unravelling knotty consumer issues, irrespective of their volatility and admissibility in the court of law as constitutionally recognised.

According to Achimugu on the official handle of NCAA, “While the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has mediated and resolved the matter between the parties, the Authority will still review the submissions to a logical conclusion”.
