LAAC 26TH INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR: Airliners, Passengers, To Appraise Airports

As the clock ticks to the flagging off of the 26th international annual seminar of the League of Aviation and Airport Correspondents-Nigeria, LAAC-N, distinguished scholars and technocrats will address salient subthemes of the main theme of the event which are now being unveiled.
The seminar which will hold at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, on Thursday, 28th July 2022, has as its theme, ‘Sunset Airports: Economic & Safety Implications,’
According to the planning committee for the seminar, salient issues about the experience of the two critical customers of the airports- passengers and airliners- would be x-rayed and presented without embellishment at the event which promises a no holds bare in incisive narration from the distinguished resource persons who have confirmed attendance at the august event.
For example, passengers’ experiences even before the current avalanche of cancellations and protracted delays become the order of the day, a pundit in social science and data analytics, Professor Anthony Kila, would present passengers’ perspectives of the airports, pre and post-pandemic.
Hence, Anthony Kila, a Cambridge University London graduate with first class honours, would present the first paper on the topic: “Passenger Experience in Daylight Airports”
While experiences of the airliners would be presented by a versatile manager of men and materials who has had hands-on experience in airport management in different climes and presently leads the team of the fastest growing airline in Nigeria, Mr George Uriesi, Chief Operating Officer, Ibom Air.
Mr Uriesi, is also a former Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority on Nigeria, FAAN, with professional qualifications which include a Diploma in Aviation Safety Management from the University of Southern California and the Airport Executive Leadership Program certificate from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, will present a frank and concise second paper with the topic: “Maximizing Runways Utilization.”
These presentations by the pundits in air transport management would not only set the tone for the day’s discussion but will point the way forward for the Nigerian aviation industry, especially on the full utilisation of aerodromes.
Recall that another veteran and a distinguished manager and coach, Mr Bernard Bankole, Group Managing Director, Finchglow conglomerates will preside over the affairs at the talk shop.

Bankole is a member of the Hospitality and Tourism Committee of the Institute of Directors (IoD), a member of SKAL International and a member of the Nigeria-South African Chamber of Commerce (NSACC).
Among those that have given the nod of approval to attend the seminar are the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Chief Executives of all government aviation agencies and the Chairman of Bicourtney Aviation Services Limited, BASL, Dr Wale Babalakin, concessionaire managing the second terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMA2, Ikeja, Lagos.
