LAAC 28th Conference On Final Approach: Chairman, Faculty Members’ Aligning for Pleasurable Landing

Preparation for the annual international conference of the League of Airport And Aviation Correspondents-Nigeria, LAAC-N, has glided into the final approach as the Chairman of the event emerges and other faculty members have duly aligned for the event’s safe landing.
A distinguished manager in the aviation fuel supply chain, Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, the Chief Executive Officer/Founder of CITA Aviation Fuelling Company Limited, has graciously consented to preside over the activities of the day as conference chairman.
The 28th edition of the talkshop scheduled for Friday 26th July 2024, will kick off by 9am at the Providence Hotel, Government Reservation Area, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
The theme of the conference is “Aviation Survivability Amidst A Challenging Macro-Economic Environment”.
The conference chairman, Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, will be bringing his wealth of experience to the benefit of participants and the industry as various scenerios of chaotic past will be re-enacted in providing differen case studies of true life event.
Ogungbangbe, an IATA certified Jet Fuel airfield inspector had attended local and international trainings on Jet Fuel by EI, ASTM, API and IATA, hence in good stead to share hix experiences during various economic conditions in relating to the current challenge in aviation fuel value chain.
In addition, Ogungbangbe had led many high-profile industry group projects, serving as a member of the Federal Government of Nigeria 6-Man Committee on Aviation Fuel Pricing and Product availability.
Other faculty members are Capt Samuel A Caulcrick, Dr Alex Nwuba and, Dr Richard Aisuebeogun.
Capt Caulcrick, aka CEEKAY101, is also an economist and management consultant. A product of Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, and when the college clocked 50 years, national assignment beckoned and Caulcrick was appointed Rector of the college.
Another resource person that will be sharing insight on the national economy, and the economics of the air transport management world is Dr Alex Nwuba, the Second Vice President of Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI), and the President, Owners of Aircraft And Pilots Association, OAPA. Nwuba will be sharing perspectives on true-life-cases scenarios at the conference.
Dr Richard Aisuebeogun, IAP, PhD., former Managing Director/Chief Executive, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, will be moderating the Panelists discussions session at the conference.
The theme of this year’s conference is informed by the challenging state of Nigeria’s economy which has amplified the already existing constraints to growth and development of Nigeria’s aviation in form of poor access to forex, weakening currency, high fuel costs, high maintenance costs, poor airports infrastructure, regulatory constraints, growing manpower demands, technology upgrade, passenger comfort, among other issues that require urgent attention of industry stakeholders and policy formulators.
LAAC is Nigeria’s aviation media umbrella body saddled with the responsibility of ensuring effective media coverage and practice in the aviation industry.
