Lagos-Badagry Expressway Reconstruction
The federal government has sent a passionate appeal to the citizens whose daily economic activities demand plying Lagos-Badagry express road to bear with it, as the road construction is still on the front burner.
Minister of Works and Housing, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola, made the plea during an inspection tour of the project on Saturday.
He said lack of funding was the initial challenge as government is presently indebted to the contractor, which inform the firm’s exit from the site.
He however expressed optimism that the Lagos-Badagry Expressway rehabilitation/reconstruction project was adequately captured and is among the 2021 Sukuk funding priority.
Fashola explained that since the contractor had returned to site, major drainage works were currently on going to upgrade the highway from its old status and ensure durable construction, noting that funding challenges were being resolved.
He said that by the time the Sukuk funding is made available, the project scope will be expanded to include a few more roads to be added to it.
The Works Minister, Raji Fashola, a former Governor of Lagos State, pointed out that the Federal Government is diligently executing the project to ensure quality, durable, construction with adequate channels as the road has now become a superhighway due to the development on that corridor”, he said.
