Lagos Govt. Closes Three Roads for Rail Construction Terminating At Apapa Ports

Consequent upon the harmonious working relationship between the Federal and Lagos state governments, especially on the road and rail transport projects, the Lagos state government has announced the closure of the roads on Adejobi Street, Agege, Adegbola Level Crossing and Works Road, in Ikeja, on the 9th, 11th and 12th of November, 2020 from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am on each day.
According to the media statement issued by the Ministry of Transportation, it explained that this phase of construction on the designated routes, would focus on the closure of the track stress dispersion and locking at various level crossings.
The statement which was signed Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, Assistant Director, Public Affairs, advised motorists to utilize alternative routes that have been provided during each of the three days the construction works will last, to enhance free flow of traffic on the aforementioned dates, for the total number of three days.

According to the Statement, Motorists plying Adejobi, Agege axis will be diverted to Fagba Crossing, Toyin Crossing and Ashade Underpass, to access their desired destinations.
The Statement further advised road users that wish to access Adegbola Street or reach other areas from Adegbola to make use of Works road, Oba Akinjobi Way to Ikeja Underbridge; or Ashade Underpass, to Airport under-bridge, on Ikeja Along, and Local Government Secretariat Way to get to their various destinations.
While imploring motorists to comply with the Traffic directions put in place to minimize inconveniences in movement, it further stated that the closure is slated at this time, to ensure there is a smooth and uninterrupted flow of work on the rail track leading on to Apap Ports.
The Lagos State Government, however, appealed to residents of the State, especially motorists that ply these corridors to bear the pains, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless multi-modal transport system that will meet the transportation needs of the larger population.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the megacity status of the state of aquatic splendour requires regular infrastructure development. And the most crucial for a state with a very diminishing landmass due to bourgeoning population is a seamless intermodal transportation system which the present regime is being vigorously pursued.
LET MOTORISTS AND COMMUTERS IN THE METROPOLIS, ESPECIALLY AT AGEGE AND OGBA AREAS BE APPROPRIATELY ADVISED IN RE-ROUTING THEIR ITINERARY ACCORDINGLY
