Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, announced on Monday, the delivery of two train sets to furtherance the progress of work towards the completion of the blue line segment of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit project, as he’d severally promised.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu on his verified Instagram page, jidesanwoolu, further explained to Lagosians that, “these passenger trains have been cleared at the port of entry, and were moved to the National Theatre station where they have been lifted onto the elevated rail tracks”.

This delivery no doubt will provide the much-needed fillip in making the proposed date for commencement of commercial operation in this first quarter more sacrosanct.

Governor Sanwoolu also reiterated to Lagosians that, “with the arrival of these train sets, we’re on course with our plans to change the face of the rail transport system in Lagos State”.

Recall that the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, LRMT/Blue Line from Marina-Okoko, is one of the six rail lines and monorail prescribed for Lagos in the state’s Strategic Transport Master Plan.

The rail system would be powered by electricity from an independent power plant to be purposely built for its operations.

Sanwo-Olu in his announcement on Instagram reiterated that “A Greater Lagos is indeed Rising”.
The 27-kilometer rail system, LRMT Blue Line, is conceived with the view to conveying about 200,000 passengers daily.
