Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, to resume flights into Nigeria

Nigeria’s Federal Government has lifted the flight ban on Lufthansa, KLM and Air France, paving the way for them to resume their operations in and out of the country.

Also, Qatar Airways has been granted approval to start flight operations to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika, made these announcements through a tweet from his Twitter handle and urged those just granted approval and those already operating in and out of the country, to ensure excellent service delivery to Nigerians.

Sirika said the government will not take lightly any act or deed derogatory to human dignity or runs afoul of the international protocols on passenger facilitation or trample on their rights and priviledges in the contract Nigerian passengers entered with any of the airlines.

He said Nigerian travelers’ rights and priviledges will be protected at all cost hence, he demanded from the airlines best industry practices and deserving courtesies must be accorded, Nigerian passengers.

Another cheering news in the Minister’s tweet is that Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, Port-Harcourt International Airport, Port Harcourt, and the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu might resume international light operations before the year runs out.

The Tweet said the Ministry of Aviation is working with the Federal Ministry of Health, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, PTF, and other relevant government agencies to ensure that the airports meet all the safety and COVID-19 health protocols.

Senator Hadi Sirika, noted in the tweet that all hands are on deck to ensure logistics and policies necessities are promptly instituted to address the difficulties encountered by international travelers, especially as the yuletide season is fast approaching

He expresses his appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of Aviation stakeholders in ensuring the smooth reopening of the nation’s airspace.
