President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 13-month-old approval for the final payment of the outstanding N36bn owed Nigeria Airways pensioners since 24 years ago has now been authoritatively confirmed by reliable multiple sources to have grown wings and flown out of the files among those classified approval memos for various payments that are kept in the custody of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
This incontrovertible fact was unearthed by a 4-man team members of the concerned pensioners who travelled to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for a Fact finding mission on what could have happened to the payment approval issued by the number one citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and 13 months after payment has not been effected and no any clue what so ever, hence thw octogenearian travelled to the seat of power.
When the entourage, which comprised of Alhaji Ore Salako, Engr Ayuba Kyari, Capt. Prex Porbeni and Mr. Chris Aligbe arrived Abuja, they had meeting Mr. John Waitono, one of the key officers in the Ministry of Finance directly in charge of the payment processes, to his guests that “the newly appointed Minister of Finance had initiated the payment process for the approved ₦36 Billion entitlement as soon as he assumed office; but a review of the relevant files revealed that the Presidential Approval authorizing the payment could not be located”
Also, a meeting with the Technical Adviser to the Permanent Secretary, Mr Akor Abbah, reiterated that the cog in the wheel of progress towards the payment is the missing Presidential Approval document. Abbah said that“the payment process remains active, but cannot be completed without the presidential approval memo.

The crew was also very much curious to know if perhaps the Cash Office of the Accountant General of the Federation might have surmounted the hurdle by whatever means; a phone call initiated had the Director of Cash Office confirmed that the missing approval remains the critical requirement for payment to be effected, and it’s still very much at large.
The next port of call was the Director of PICA, who also confirmed that the missing Presidential Approval Memo is the major challenge and the cause of the payment delay.
However, before the crew departed Abuja, a formal letter dated 18th of June 2026, chronicled the findings about the payment delay and a fervent prayer for the Finance Minister’s prompt intervention to mitigate the delay was submitted.

A similar letter was delivered to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, which equally requested his intervention to resolve the logjam and facilitate payment of the approved entitlement.
According to the report by the pensioners, they have concluded plans to follow up on the letters this week.

Thank you for the concern you have been showing on our predicament. May you now suffer the same fate.
May God bless us all.
