Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, to be commissioned Monday, 11th March 2024
The remodelled airport will be commissioned today by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be visiting Niger State to commission outstanding projects the state government have accomplished in the realm of mechanized farming.
Binta Mamman, the state Commissioner for Information who announced on Sunday, said the remodelled airport would serve as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, NAIA, taking cognizance of the state’s proximity to the nation’s capital.
Recall that at the twilight of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, in May 2023, the airport was renamed after the late Abubakar Imam, and was announced by the then Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika, when 15 airports in the country were renamed after some prominent Nigerians both dead or living.

The Information Commissioner enthused about the state’s preparedness to host the president, “All is set for the Niger State Government to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT, in Minna, the state capital. During the President’s visit, he will commission the re-modelled and upgraded terminal at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport,” she said.
Speaking on the primary mission of PBAT’s visit to Minna, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Musa Salihu, said “The state-of-the-art- equipment for agricultural mechanization procured by the state government to support and achieve the food security agenda of both the State and the Federal Governments would be commissioned”.
He chronicled the state-of-the-art agro facilities procured to boost food production such as tractors, power tillers, planters and harvesters, among others, were already assembled at the airport for a symbolic demonstration of irrigation farming at the Airport City Free Agro Processing Zone.
