MMIA Earns ACI’s Health Accreditation Certificate

Airport Council International, ACI, certificate of approval for COVID-19 safety protocol at MMIA

The Airport Council International, ACI, has expressed satisfaction with the layers of biosecurity for passengers and airport users as established at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, in conformity with the Airport Health Accreditation Programme, as recommended by the global airport body, ACI, and also sanctioned by the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, Canada.

At an audit of the MMIA readiness for a restart, the Airports Council International, ACI, adjudged MMIA as having complied with stipulated conditionality for safe, secure and healthy restart thus, it earned the “ACI Health Accreditation Certificate”

According to a media statement by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the Health Accreditation Certificate earned was an eloquent testimony that the COVID-19 safety protocol instituted at the airport was in line with the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and ICAO Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations along with industry best practices.

In the media statement which was signed by Henrietta Yakubu, Mrs, General Manager, Corporate Communications, said: “the International Airport is the 3rd to be accredited in Nigeria Under this program after the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) and the Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA) were accredited respectively”.

This garland from ACI the media statement was the outcome of “efforts by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), led by the Managing Director, Capt. Hamisu Yadudu, and the Management team to ensure the safety and security of all travellers and Airport users”.

Recalled that FAAN recently beefed up safety protocols at all Airports, following the new wave of Covid-19, and a monitoring team was set up for each Airport to drive total compliance. This is in accordance with the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Health Accreditation Programme, which is designed to reassure the travelling public of the safety precautions being taken to reduce any risks to their health as well as maintaining secure Airport Facilities.
