MMIA Lagos Staff School Pupil Joins Rank of Authors, Social Crusaders

A pre-teen student of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Staff School, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos, has joined the ranks of distinguished authors in Nigeria, and the ranks of conscientious advocates for a more dignifying, and humane treatment to be accorded the women folks not in Nigeria alone but worldwide.
The book titled, “The Nigerian Woman: A Collection of Heroism” is authored by Jemima Audu, a student in the JSS2 Arts class, at the FAAN staff school, MMIA, Ikeja.
A media statement in respect of the book unveiling program and on its content and structure says the book titled, “The Nigerian Woman: A Collection of Heroism” explores the struggles and challenges of women in Nigeria and African societies as they battle with all forms of discrimination and abandonment.
The statement quoted the author’s remark at a media chat thus, “The book is my contribution to the struggle for women and girl child emancipation from all forms of violence and the need for societies to accord the girl child necessary education and enabling environment to thrive”
According to the media statement, Jemima was quoted as elucidating on the scope of the literary piece, “the book is set in three parts with sub-themes, ‘Ejura the Orphan’, ‘Belikisu The Amazon’, and ‘Abigail the Virtuous Woman,” which all have relevance in the overt and covert struggles an average woman and a girl child are subjected before they can achieve self-actualization.”
Jemima further highlighted what nudged her to write the book thus, “Every day I see and hear in the news how women are being maltreated mostly in their matrimonial homes with some, oftentimes having to fend for the children when the husband is either late or totally abandons his family,” she argued
According to the Kogi state born who is in her early adolescence, 11 years of age, “all over the world, mothers and their little children like me still face and suffer discrimination and various forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence “(SGBV).
She was further quoted thus, “There is this continuous cry by my Nigerian mothers in rural communities for the government and concerned authorities to put in place policies and actions that will put a stop to discriminatory practices against women and protect them from arbitrary male domination which has become a retrogressive cultural practice. I am lending my voice to the call to end these unacceptable practices through my book,” Jemima said.
Organizers of the book unveiling said the event will take place on Wednesday, 11th of October 2023, at the FAAN transit camp, beside Caverton Helicopter, at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammad Airport Ikeja, in Lagos.
Distinguished guests expected at the unveiling of the book include the Attah of Igala in Kogi state, His Royal Majesty, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, Hajiya Salamatu Umar-Eluma, a former Director of Administration & Human Resources, A&HR, at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, who presently is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC), at its national secretariat Abuja, and the party stalwart in Kogi state.
The Special guest and the chief unveiler expected is the wife of the Chairman of Air Peace, Mrs Alice Onyema, among others.
