NIWA SUPPORTS FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 WITH N10million

The management of National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, has demonstrated her support to the global fight against the ubiquitous Covid-19 that has plunged the world into disarray, by providing financial support to the national effort at mitigating the pandemic and cleansing the nation of vestiges of the dreaded Coronavirus.

While thinking globally and engrossed in practical efforts locally toward ending the Covid-19 scourge, NIWA Managing Director, Dr George Moghalu, had made donation of a total of N10million to support national programs to contain the spread of the deadly novel virus in Nigeria.

According to the media statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs,, Mr Tayo Fadile, NIWA had made a donation of N5 million each to the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, and the Lagos State Government.

The statement said the total donation of N10million {Ten Million Naira} made as part of NIWA’s Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, in helping Government fight the killer virus with all the vigour and determination to eradicate the virus and its agonizing outcomes.

However, in cognizance to the precautionary measures prescribed for all corporate organizations to maintain ultra high hygiene standard in their operating environment and on equipment, the Managing Director, Dr. Moghalu. had ensured NIWA complied with the directives to the letter.

Hence, NIWA had conducted thorough disinfectant on its equipment and pieces of machinery such as Tug boats, barges, watercraft, Ferry terminals, Dockyards, River ports, and Jetties, among others.

The table below is the updated activities of the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, in the spirited nation effort to contain and eradicate the Covid-19 scourge from Nigeria.
