NOUN Resumes Academic Programs, Monday, 12TH October

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced that normal academic activities will resume nationwide tomorrow, Monday, 12th October 2020 after six months of a break following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the economies and social life all over the world.
According to the statement issued Saturday, by Mr. Ibrahim Sheme, Director, Media and Publicity, NOUN, it said the decision to resume normal academic activities was in compliance with the recent decision of the Federal Government on re-opening of all academic institutions.
The media statement announced that the University Registrar, Mr. Felix Edoka, had advised the staffers to strictly abide by all the known COVID-19 safety protocols while at work.
NOUN Media Director quoted the Registrar, Edoka, as saying that breach of COVID-19 protocols would not be tolerated by the institution and appropriate sanction shall be meted on culprits.
It added that the Registrar urged all deans, directors, and heads of the units to ensure compliance with both the resumption and the safety measures.
The statement also revealed that the students were meaningfully engaged during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic saying, “It is noteworthy that NOUN students were able to continue with their studies from home during the six-month lockdown.
Ibrahim Shema explained that the feat was possible because “the university, being an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, requires no classroom attendance,” he stated.
It will be recalled NOUN management suspended all academic activities on 20th March 2020, following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
