NSIB, Aero Contractors, Agree to Mutual Capacity Building

Aero Contractor, the oldest commercial airline in the nation’s air transport industry, has entered into a mutually beneficial capacity-building and knowledge-sharing arrangement with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB.

According to a media statement from NSIB, the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed at Aero contractors’ office in Lagos, Monday, spelt out a framework allowing NSIB’s Transportation Safety Officers and technical personnel to undergo specialized on-the-job training using Aero’s state-of-the-art facilities.

The statement chronicled few state of the art facilities NSIB investigators would have their hands on to includd simulators and maintenance workshops.

While in a symbiotic manner, the statement added, Aero’s technical personnel would be exposed to the rudiments and advanced investigation technicalities of both incidents and accidents from the arrays of distinguished investigators at NSIB.

Capt Alex Badeh Jr., Director-General of NSIB, after signing the MoU said it will foster a partnership that would facilitate “joint conferences, symposiums, and workshops to share best practices, explore emerging trends in aviation, and build capacity across both workforces by deploying their respective facilities (humans and materials) and the staff, including pilots, engineers, dispatchers, and flight attendants.

Badeh Jr., noted that the robust collaboration to jointly build capacity would positively impact safety of the nations airspace and the diviend would translate to profitable operations for commercial operators and would attract more foreign airlines to explore the nation’s air transport market.

Capt Ado Sanusi, Managing Director/CEO of Aero Contractors, emphasized that “Safety is not just a regulatory requirement; it is the cornerstone of our industry hence, signing of the MoU which underscores our commitment to investing in the future of a safe Nigerian airspace by sharing our expertise, experience, and technical knowledge with NSIB.”

An industry stakeholder and aviation safety advocate, Engr. Musa Adamu, Managing Director of Universal Aviation Group, welcomed the initiative and urged players in the industry value chain to take a cue from NSIB and AERO Contractors collaboration

The statement also added that, “both parties have also agreed to uphold the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism throughout the partnership. Shared information will be used solely for safety investigation training, ensuring trust and integrity in the collaboration”.

It however emphasized thus, “with this agreement, NSIB and Aero Contractors reaffirm their shared vision of a safer, more resilient aviation sector. As the partnership takes flight, it promises to elevate the standard of aviation safety training, ensuring that Nigeria remains at the forefront of transportation safety excellence in the region.
