ONE YEAR IN THE SADDLE OF SAHCO PLC: ADENIKE ABODERIN’S SCORECARD

Instead of the pump and pageantry peculiar for the commemoration of such an occasion, rather, Aboderin throws herself into the stakeholders’ court for a critical assessment of what the company has achieved since she mounted the saddle of the renowned ground handling firm.

To make the appraisal less burdensome for anyone interested in tracking the company’s performance, a media statement that chronicles the company’s performance was accordingly issued.

In the past one year, SAHCO Plc recorded remarkable achievements of geometrical progression in its financials. For example, “the company experienced a remarkable financial turnaround, with a 74.8% increase in revenue for the period ending 31st December 2024, compared to the previous year.

In the last trading year under review, SAHCO secured key contracts and renewals, such as its ground handling contract with British Airways renewed for five years, signed a 5-year ground handling agreement with South African Airways and strengthened partnerships with other major carriers, including Bristow Airlines, Value Jet, Ibom Air, Green Africa, and Air Cote D’Ivoire.

SAHCO expanded its footprint by securing the Air Peace London route, Ibom Air’s regional operations to Accra, and Uganda Airlines’ extended services to Abuja.

The company further expanded its portfolio by entering the religious tourism sector, and securing Hajj handling contracts with Flynas, and Umza Air. The company also secured the full handling contract for Neos Air, reviving the Nigerian-Italian route after nearly two decades.

SAHCO’s growth continued with new domestic handling agreements with Umza Aviation, LTT Cargo, and ASTRA Aviation, solidifying its dominance in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES THAT ATTRACT RECOGNITION

SAHCO also set a new standard in operational efficiency. The ground crew achieved an incredible feat of 37-minute turnaround for an Ethiopian Airlines cargo flight—a record time for offloading 37 pallets from a Boeing 777 in under 40 minutes!!!

Similar impressive performance on passengers’ handling, with improved turnaround time among other impressive performances, compelled the British Airways to, on its own accord recognize and reward with an award.

Hence, the internationally renowned BA, when it found esteemed and world-class service delivery in Sahco, bestowed awards on the company in recognition and appreciation of Sahco’s strict professional service to the airline.

For achieving deadlines with precision, British Airways variously bestowed on Sahco various recognitions for outstanding performance such as the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Awards for Safety & Punctuality at the Lagos station.

While for the Abuja operation, the renowned British Airways bestowed a Bronze Award on Sahco Plc. These accolades affirmed the company’s dedication to top-tier aviation handling services.

Mrs. Aboderin’s leadership has prioritized safety and environmental sustainability. SAHCO within the year under review successfully renewed its IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) and RA3 certifications, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to ultra-high safety standards.

According to the news release by the company, SAHCO has also strengthened its corporate affiliation with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), reinforcing its position as a safety-driven organization.

The statement added that the company has made significant investments in eco-friendly aviation ground support equipment to support its expanding operations, and making contributions to environmental sustainability in the aviation sector.
