President Muhammadu Buhari, has commissioned a multimillion naira Meteorological Institute for Science & Technology and the Climate Change Center, in Katsina state.
The excited Minister of Aviation, Sen Hadi Sirika, on his Twitter handle announced thus; “the highlight of Mr. President’s visit to Katsina, for us in aviation, is the commissioning of both the Muhammadu Buhari Meteorological Institute for Science & Technology (MBMIST), and the climate change center”.
Sirika was full of thanks to President Buhari for his immense support for aviation.
He said the aviation sector has blossomed more than ever before since the beginning of the President’s tenure in 2015 to date.
Like an appreciative steward full of gratitude to his principal, the minister wrote; “thank you, Mr. President, Aviation has blossomed in your time”.
Prof. Mansur Matazu, Director General, Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NIMET, conducted the president, the minister, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the incumbent Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, and other dignitaries present round the ultra-modern facilities.
The safety record shortly before the beginning of the current dispensation is what everyone appreciates and cherishes. As it is often said, safety is not a destination but a journey.
Hence, all stakeholders must continue to improve their processes and procedures in delivering on their mandates and continue rolling back ad infinitum, the frontiers of air safety in Nigeria.
It will be recalled Prof. Mansur Matazu, the DG, NiMet, at an event in late 2022 in Abuja said the efficient policies of the Federal Government and effective implementation of objectives have sustained NiMet as the best meteorological service in Africa.
According to him, the agency developed and worked with an approved work plan of programs and activities by the Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika, to guide the agency’s strides.
He enthused, “for these work plans, reports are routinely provided to the Federal Government through the Minister of Aviation. The work plan was produced to monitor the progress and achievements of each policy thrust, Matazu said.
