PMB Presides over Hadejia Airport Ground Breaking, FEC Approves N1.97bn for Radar Equipment, BASA with SA

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, 27th of April 2023, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hadejia Airport, Jigawa State.
The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika who stood in for the President, praised the project by the state government as very invaluable with potential to turn around the economic fortune of the state.
Sen, Sirika who on Twitter reiterated his excitement on the Hadejia airport, shared with Nigerians thus; “Today (Thursday 27th April) I lead the groundbreaking ceremony for Hadejia Airport, Jigawa State, on behalf of the President”.
The minister through the same medium announced the test flight which, about the same time took place in Ebonyi state, at Abakaliki.
Also on his Twitter handle @hadisirika, the elated minister enthused, “Simultaneously (Thursday 27th April) the maiden flight into Abakaliki, Ebonyi State took place”
His tweet concluded with gratitude to the almighty God thus; “The growth of Aviation under Buhari is unprecedented. To God be all the glory. Alhamdulillah”
Evidence of the growth trajectory as set out by the aviation ministry was manifested in less than 24 hours to the groundbreaking at Hadejia, when on Wednesday, 26th April 2023, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, granted approval for the total sum of N1.97bn, to the aviation ministry.
Sirika while briefing the State House Press Corps, Aso Villa, on Wednesday, explained that the vote approved was for the procurement and installation of radar signaling equipment in nine airports nationwide.
He told his audience that the N1.97bn approved will facilitate the procurement, installation, and commissioning of high-fidelity voice, data, and radar signals recording solutions in Abuja, Akure, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Ibadan, Jos, Sokoto, Yola, and Enugu airports.
Sirika explained further that the approved fund will also enable the supply and installation of additional five units of Easten-image liquid explosive detector machines for the Kano, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Kaduna, and Enugu airports.
He however added that both projects are to be completed in twelve (12) months.
Hadi Sirika capped his briefing with the news that the FEC had also approved the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, BASA, between Nigeria and South Africa, SA.
