Preferred Bidder for Construction of 4th Mainland Bridge to Emerge Before 1st Jan 2023

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State unveiled the Fourth Mainland Bridge Project
Lagosians have been assured of good news in respect of the construction of $2.5billion mark Fourth Mainland Bridge, 4MB, as the lucky winner among the three firms who made it to the anti-climax of the bidding process will know their fate very soon, as a winner will be announced in a couple of weeks but before the new year, 2023.
To guarantee the sacrosanct timeline for disposing of the tedious concluding segment of the bidding process and to ensure a thorough and impeccable assessment of the Request for Proposals, RFP, submitted by the three engineering firms who made it to the grand finale, an evaluation committee has been constituted to assess bidders’ presentations and take a dispassionate decision, and announce the preferred bidder for the construction of the most touted Intra state bridge in Africa- the Fourth Mainland Bridge, 4MB
According to the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Office of Public Private Partnership, OPPP, Mr. Ope George, the Evaluation Committee comprised representatives from the Ministry of Works, Office of Public-Private Partnerships, and the Project Advisers.
Ope George at a media briefing announced that the committee had commenced the evaluation of the submitted RFP Stage 2 documents on the 17th of November 2022. And the final outcome he said will be made public before the year runs out.
He thus narrated, “the 4th MB project has gone through the competitive bidding process, the request for proposal Stage one, (RFP-1) and the request for proposal Stage two (RFP-2). The RFP Stage 2 was then issued to three shortlisted bidders, namely: Mota-Engil (Nig & Africa), CCECC & CRCCIG Consortium, and
CGGC–CGC Joint Venture.
George said on completion, the 4M bridge would be the second longest in Africa. The features of the bridge he highlighted comprising of three toll plazas, nine (9) interchanges, a 4.5km lagoon bridge, and an eco-friendly environment.
He said further that the bridge with the state-of-the-art road safety infrastructure, comfort, and security, would span about 37 kilometers, starting from Abraham Adesanya, in Ajah, on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor, and transverse from the Northwest towards the lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu/Isawo in Ikorodu.
George gave the rationale for constructing the 4th mainland bridge thus, “it is aimed at reducing severe congestion on the existing 3rd Mainland Bridge; whilst opening new areas for future development”
The Special Adviser, OPPP, said the proposed 4th Mainland Bridge project is a Public Private Partnership, PPP, transport infrastructure development, which includes the construction and operation of a greenfield tolled road and bridge with a design speed of 120km/h, including the development of adjacent real estates.
