Oba Stephen Adegboyega Alabi, the new Oliosi of Osi Ekiti, Ekiti State
The renowned veteran broadcast journalist, who is also a legal luminary, Barrister Stephen Adegboyega Alabi, has been ratified by the Ekiti State Executive Council, as the paramount ruler in Ido Osi Local Government Area of the state.
The commissioner of Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a media statement after the ratification by the Ekiti State Government, of barrister Alabi’s nomination by the kingmakers of the community, said Chief Alabi has been approved to ascend the stool of Olosi of Osi Ekiti.
Olatunbosun added that Governor Abiodun Oyebanji presided at the executive council meeting on Monday, where the king makers’ nominee, barrister Stephen Adegboyega Alabi, was approved as the new Oliosi of Osi Ekiti, in Ido Osi Local Government.
This approval by the state government put paid to the search which began in August 2021, for succession to the paramount traditional stool of Oba Oliosi of Osi Ekiti, following the demise of Oba Adewole Agunbiade from the Akombo ruling House.
According to the statement by the information commissioner, “the provisions of the Chief’s Law (2012) was strictly adhered to in the selection of Barrister Stephen Adegboyega Alabi from the Arubiojo Ruling House as the Oliosi of Osi Ekiti”.
An abridged resume of the new Oba from the commissioner’s statement described the new monarch as, “an accomplished broadcaster, veteran journalist, Public Relations Consultant, and a Legal Practitioner.
Prince Alabi holds an LL.B from the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, BL., from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja and LL..M from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife”, Osun State.
“He also holds a Diploma in Journalism, from the Nigerian Institute of JOURNALISM,” Ikeja, Lagos.
