Management of Sahco Plc has described as malicious libel, a report accusing the leading ground handling company of complicity in a multi-billion-naira drug peddling cartel along with some of its staff.
A media statement by Sahco Plc, signed by Uansohia Vanessa Adetola Mrs., Head of Corporate Communications, declared thus, “without mincing words… the report is FALSE and it is only a figment of the imagination of the reporter”.
Reacting to the said libelous report published by a U.S.-based online media, Sahco also described the report as “fiendish and cruel to insinuate we run a drug cartel”, as a corporate entity.
The statement hinted at what the corporate business of Sahol does not include; “our role does not include verification, checking the content of cargo as alleged in this report”.
But Sahco claimed to offer world-class services “as a gateway to Imports and Exports in Nigeria and we are proud to provide such world-class facility in Nigeria”, the statement said.
The statement further informed Sahco’s customers and the general public “that all Government agencies, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Directorate of State Security, DSS, the Nigerian Plant Plant Quarantine, Nigerian Airforce, etc., have unfettered access to our warehouse where they carry out their duties without our interference”.
It however averred that “this is not the first time suspects will be arrested within our facilities and we always cooperate with the agencies while they carry out their investigation without shielding anyone involved be it our staff, contractor, or business partner”.
Hence, Sahco urged the general public to ignore the information by Saharareporters.com as fake, and reiterated that “as a responsible company, we make available the latest technology to assist Government agencies to fight any form of crime within our facilities and we will not relent in doing that”.
