The substance of airline startup emerges as Nigeria Air bags Air Transport License, ATL

The interim management of Nigeria Air has been issued Air Transport License, ATL, as a precursor to the operator’s certificate with which flying would be flagged off by the startup airline as soon as it satisfies the very well-known conditionalities for issuing an Airline Operator’s Certificate, AOC.

The Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt Musa Nuhu, while handing the ATL to the interim Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Capt Dapo Olumide, said on Monday in Abuja that, ATL was a prerequisite for the airline to acquire Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to start operating.

Capt Musa Nuhu said NCAA’s mandate was to work to support all operators currently existing and those aspiring to thrive in the industry to procure necessary documents toward fulfilling all the requirements to be found worthy of the regulator’s licenses and certificates.

The DG affirmed that the ATL issued to the startup, had gone through all the processes hence, he added that as soon as the firm fulfils the conditions for issuing Air Operator’s Certificate, AOC, it will not be denied.

Capt Nuhu enthused, “this ATL has gone through all the processes. So, I will like to do the presentation at this point in time. We look forward to the fulfilment of the AOC process so that we can hand over the AOC certificate to you”, the DG said.

In his reaction, the interim Managing Director, Nigeria Air, Capt Dapo Olumide, expressed gratitude to the entire staff and management of NCAA for the speedy and meticulous attention accorded the application for ATL.

Olumide said the team would definitely double its efforts in order to fulfil all necessary processes to be issued Air Operator’s Certificate, AOC.

Revealing a few of the steps taken to hasten the fulfilment of conditions for issuance of AOC, Capt Olumide announced the startup had identified equipment type to be deployed on the nation’s air space.

He said that “we already have aircraft identified because that is one of the requirements for the NCAA. We are waiting for the terms of the agreement with the Provider of Original Equipment Manufacturer, OEM.
