The Lagos State Government will from tomorrow, Saturday 2nd April 2022, begin to divert traffic from Kayode/Ogunmokun Streets, Mushin, in continuation of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line Project.

The diversion beginning tomorrow will terminate by the 20th of July 2022.

The diversion is with the view to prevent distraction for the contractor in delivering world-class civil engineering work for the rail mass transit project in fulfilment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s electoral promise to Lagosians.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Transportation, the Commissioner, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the Pilling work will take a stretch of four months to allow the contractor to achieve the desired results for the rail line.

Oladeinde also affirmed that alternative routes have been provided for road users to utilize during the course of the construction.

He explained that motorists on Kayode Street will be diverted to Jibowu to connect Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to access Ogunmokun Street.

He further stated that motorists on Ogunmokun Street will be diverted to Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, Ilupeju Bypass, to access Ikorodu Road to continue their journey.

The Commissioner assured that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed along the affected routes to manage traffic flow and minimize inconveniences.

The Commissioner urged the road users to aspire to exercise voluntary compliance with traffic regulations and where directed, cooperate with the Traffic managers and the traffic directions mounted on the road.

Oladeinde appealed to residents of the State, especially motorists that ply these corridors to support the execution of the project aimed at achieving a seamless Multi-modal transport system that will meet the transportation needs of the good people of Lagos State.
