TTPL Pushes for Inclusion of E-tag, EITN, in Eto App

The result of diligent troubleshooting on the resurgence of traffic gridlock along the corridors leading to Apapa and Tin can ports, has revealed the need to up the ante on the Eto call-up system by including Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) simply known as electronic tag/E-tags, and also embedding the E-Call-up system with Interchange Transaction Number (EITN), to effectively and efficiently streamline truck movements within and around the Lagos ports.
These are the recommendations from the findings by Trucks Transit Parks Limited, TTPL, the pioneering information technology firm in tech-based mobility solutions for reducing congestion in the Apapa and Tin Can Port economic zones.
TTPL Managing Director, and band Co-founder, Jama Onwubuariri, announced these recommendations at a recent stakeholders’ forum hosted by the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.
The forum appraised the efficiency of the Electronic Call-up System amid the resurgence of traffic gridlock along the Apapa Port corridor.
Jama Onwubuariri in his submission strongly recommended the implementation of EITN for Apapa and Tincan Ports, describing the additional packages as a key transaction and traffic cycle correlation measure.
He explained to his audience what the newly introduced features- EITN and RFID- to the Eto call-up system would achieve if implemented in line with its design to include, ensuring high volumes of legitimate bookings, reduction of illegitimate traffic, and enhancement of transaction phase correlation.
Onwubuariri affirmed that the new features will further ensure “better coordination of truck movements within ports, prevents crisscrossing between terminals, and supports integrated security check activities”.
He emphasized the importance of deploying the new features stating, “The deployment of RFID/E-tag and EITN is pivotal to addressing the challenges faced in the Lagos ports”.
According to a media statement from TTPL, “The E-tags affixed to vehicle windshields, offer a seamless and automated approach to access control. E-tag readers at entry and exit gates integrate with the access barrier system, improving security and access control”.
The statement chronicled further benefits thus, “The integration with the ètò solution will streamlines the truck scheduling process, leading to benefits such as fast cargo evacuation, reduced human interaction, improved security, and cost-effectiveness.
The TTPL CEO also noted major drivers of congestion such as the challenges emanating from wet cargo operations, and Truckers’ lackadaisical attitudes toward standard operating procedures for the E-call-up system, among others.
He however proffered that with the deployment of E-tags as a complement to the electronic call-up system, sanity will return to the roads all around the Apapa and Tin can ports axis.
