An airplane operated by United Nigeria Airline with registered mark 5N-BWY, which departed Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, with flight number, U5 0513, landed safely at Murtala Mohammed Airport, MMA, Ikeja Lagos, but aquaplaned due to a downpour.
A media statement issued by United Nigeria Airlines, UNA, said the aircraft landed normally but skidded off the runway upon landing.
The statement said “All passengers have also been safely evacuated alongside their luggage. No passenger was hurt in the incident”, the airline affirmed.
UNA reiterated that passenger safety is of utmost priority to it and assured its guests that their safety is highly valued and will not be compromised.
In accordance to the aspect of the regulation on mandatory occurrence reporting, the incident was reported to appropriate government agencies, and the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, had commenced detailed investigation into the incident.
