On the final day of US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump’s two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, UK, the couple was forced to make an emergency landing after a Marine One helicopter scare, Thursday, 17th September 2025.
Donald Trump and Melaine were returning from the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Chequers country home, aboard the US Marine One presidential helicopter, when the pilot deemed it prudent to make an emergency landing.
The copter, which originally headed for London’s Stanstead airport, made an emergency landing at an air strip close to Stanstead.
However, reasons for the emergency landing were shrouded in secrecy, but a snippet about the rationale was elicited in a media statement.
The White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said in a statement: “Due to a minor hydraulic issue, and out of an abundance of caution, the pilots landed at a local airfield before reaching Stansted airport”.
On fulfilling all righteousness that guaranteed the safety of the US first citizen and the first lady, Donald and Melania Trump, “The president and first lady safely boarded the support helicopter”.
Another event of note, although it occurred on the sidelines, reflected so much on the personality and the entire being of the president of one of the most powerful nations in the world.
When the engine later rolled and the takeoff initiated, Donald Trump spewed a most selfish and ungentlemanly joke that made others wonder how a President with “a me first mindset”, would ever sincerely render selfless service for the greatest good of the greatest number of citizens
The US President on Air Force One, in his characteristic queer and unsalutary utterances, was quoted to have sarcastically barked at the flight crew, “Fly safely. You know why I say that? Because I’m on the flight. I want to get home otherwise I wouldn’t care.”
