Caverton Progresses in building Simulator, MRO: Sirika inspects projects

A Helicopter Flight Simulator
The investment by Caverton helicopters, which is an initiative meant to give a shot in the arm to the Maintenance, Repairs, and Overhaul, MRO, of its helicopters and that of other operators in Nigeria nay Africa, has begun attracting the nod of the federal government.
Another critical aspect of training and retraining that has caught the attention and the interest of the government is the novel helicopter simulator being built at a private hanger owned by the Caverton helicopters whose management is far along on the two projects- MRO and Simulator for Helicopter Pilots.
By the very fact of these laudable projects, the Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika, paid a courtesy visit to Caverton helicopter, at its head office, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos; to catch a glimpse of the historic projects.
To the industry observers, the Caverton’s MRO, and the Helicopter’s Simulator Training Center, are said to be the only such facility in Africa and holds a very high prospect, beneficial to Nigerians especially to the technical market.
When the strategic facilities are finally completed, it will engender the capacity for the operators in Africa, and enable the industry to generate employment for Nigerians as well as save a lot for the country in foreign exchange.
In consonance with the government’s policy of keeping an eye on start-ups, especially where the government has invested hence, Senator Sirika, also inspected the level of work on the construction of the taxiway, ongoing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
It is expected that these initiatives will surely spillover effect beyond Caverton Helicopter by making the facilities available for other operators in Africa and help them save foreign exchange paid for similar services in U.S., UK, and South Africa, to mention but a few.
The Minister also inspected the Taxiway which is under construction alongside other directors from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.
