After a keen contest for leadership positions in the Guild of Photo-journalists Nigeria, GPN, over the weekend, the following members have emerged and constituted the National Executive Council, EXCO, Members of the guild.
The newly constituted EXCO members elected to direct the affairs of the Guild for the next three years are;
The new Chairman of GPN, Mr Abiodun Ajala, who is the Photo Editor at Thisday Newspaper. The post of Vice Chairman was clinched by Mr Tony Eguaye of WestAfrica Business News, while for the office of the Secretary emerged Mr Odutayo Odusanya, Photography Advisor, Nigeria Transport Hub, NTH.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman promised to work to promote unity among the members. He also promised to improve on membership drive so that more qualified photojournalists will come under the umbrella of the guild to be protected and be empowered.
The Chairman however promised that the new EXCO will do all within its powers to ensure members attend training where they will be exposed to the nitty gritty of modern digital trend in snapping world-class shots.
He added that such training will also impact participants with skills in editing pictures through their computers, tablets or even Android or IOS phones. The training will also develop in camara-men, the art of writing simple explanatory captions.
