Abuja Airport Takes Flight With A State Of The Art Transit Hotel

A state-of-the-art facility that guarantees ultra-high comfort unique to the renowned tradition of African culture in unparalleled hospitality has berthed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Nigeria.
The facility is exclusively for passengers transiting through the terminal.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo, unveiled the 22-bedroom facility with the corporate name, Sami Court Airport Hotel & Wellness Centre.
Festus Keyamo said the leadership of Sami Court Airport Transit Hotel was well grounded in the aviation business and will surely surpass the expectations of transit passengers thus, offering a shot at the harm to passengers’ airport experience.
He said the initiative that birthed the Transit Hotel, was one of the series of contributions by Sami Court to the air transport sector, with the view to change the narratives in hospitality especially when a traveller has to lay over in a hospitality facility within the airport area.
Such hospitality becomes inevitable, especially for travellers to connect with his/her flights with no iota of stress, thus improving passengers’ comfort while in transit at the airport.
Keyamo explained that establishing the hospitality facility exclusively for transit passengers was intentional and a reflection of collaborative efforts by the aviation ministry to bring more private sector participation to the entire air transportation value chain.
The Minister enthused, “This is not just a one-off event, it is part of the new management’s drive and policy direction to collaborate with the private sector to improve passengers’ airport experience”.
He said the current leadership of the industry- nay the leadership of aviation parastatals, agencies, institutions, and the supervising ministry- “are working hard behind the scenes to attract the private sector into investing in the airport and the aviation sector in general. This is just one of the results. In the next few months to come, we will unveil more packages”, Keyamo announced.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku, manager of one of the largest airport chains in Africa said, the Sami Court Airport Transit Hotel, is a mere tip of the iceberg from the ideas up in the sleeves of her management team.
Kuku said with time, more collaborative moves now in their embryos would soon hatch to ensure total repositioning of the airports in service delivery level, and will change for good, narratives about the nation’s airports and the air transport services in their entirety.

A transit hotel is a short-stay hotel that is situated in the transit zone of international airports, where passengers on extended waits between planes (typically a minimum of six hours) can stay while waiting for their next flight.
A transit hotel, also known as an airport hotel, is located within or near an airport, specifically designed to cater to the needs of travellers who have a layover or need a place to stay before or after their flights.
