AFRICAN WORLD CUP PLAY-OFFS RESULTS

With the palpable determination of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for their seventh World Cup yesterday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the Eagles played out to a goalless draw against the Black Stars of Ghana in the first leg of the African World Cup play-offs.


Reigning African Champions, Teranga Lions of Senegal, through an own goal at the Cairo International Stadium lost to Pharaohs of Egypt by a lone goal.


The Pharaohs victory came two months after they lost in AFCON Finals to Senegal.


Desert Foxes of Algeria with the goal scored in the first half by Islam Slimani secured a one goal victory over Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Yaounde, ending their eighth-match unbeaten runs.


In Bamako, the Eagles of Mali lost at home to Carthage Eagles of Tunisia by a lone goal while Leopards of DR CONGO in Kinshasa, played a one-one draw with Atlas Lions of Morocco.


The second leg of the African World Cup play-offs will be played on Tuesday, 29th March 2022, at the MKO ABIOLA STADIUM IN ABUJA.


Five Countries at the end of the second legs will qualify for the World Cup final tournament in Quatar later in the year.
