Maureen Badejo, a crusader for fair hearing, equity and justice
The stage is now being set for perhaps a fair legal fireworks at the temple of justice in Lagos, Nigeria, as Solicitors to the UK-based popular blogger, Maureen Badejo, have fulfilled her bail conditions, hence, Badejo breathed the air of freedom on Tuesday evening, 17th February 2026.
Barr Olufemi George Ogunjimi, Principal Counsel, Juris Republic Chambers, Lagos, announced that his client had been granted bail.
Recall that Maureen was slated to be arraigned at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, last Monday, 9th February 2026, but was not produced in court, and no plausible explanation was provided by the concerned government agency.
Hence, all the lawyers holding brief for Maureen began a frantic search at various police facilities to elicit official explanation for the failure to produce the blogger in court.
Among those who joined in the search for Maureen and for the explanation for her absence in court was Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters.
Various issues were unearth by the frantic probe for the certified true condition and explanation for the law enforcement agent not being able to produce the armless citizen and of the gender often described as weaker vessel, in the court
From the account of Sowore findings, Police proffered the argument that there were series of other petitions against Maureen that had to be treated along with the initially subsisting ones.
Other accounts indicated a scheme to ensure she stay in Police detention throughout the weekend.
While the lead counsel from the Juris Republic chambers, Barr Olufemi George Ogunjimi, said he found the blogger was on a hunger strike after a seemingly contrived attempt to deprive her of an appearance in court and, by extension, of bail.
However, it was reliably gathered that with the intervention of Barr Ogunjimi, she ended the hunger strike last week.
With the air of freedom, the blogger will be able to have various briefing sessions with the leading counsels holding brief for her.
