Aviation & Aerospace Ministry, Nile University Sign MOU, Academic Session to Take off September

In a feverish pitch to rattle into motion all motionless items on the aviation roadmap launched seven years ago, the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, on behalf of the federal government, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja.
The substance of the understanding reached was to ensure no stone unturned at ensuring the take-off of the African Aviation and Aerospace University in September 2023.
The Aviation Minister signed on behalf of the federal government, while the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dilli Dogo, signed on behalf of Nile University.
It was revealed by the Minister that, the African Aviation and Aerospace University, AAAU, will initially domicile at Nile University which will provide robust academic and practical training for undergraduate students.
According to a media statement from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, which was signed by its Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, quoted Hadi Sirika to have said at the very simple signing ceremony that, the Aviation and Aerospace Ministry “is partnering with the Nile University of Nigeria for support and take off of this University with the core mandate of aerospace, aviation, and aeronautical science”.
The statement quoted the Minister to have explained further that, the university’s faculty will deploy both virtual and in-person training for the undergraduates who will be pursuing a degree program in either Aviation Business or Meteorology. While the Master’s program in Aviation Management will commence immediately after the National University Commission, NUC gives the nod.
The Minister thus explained the structure of the fledgling university, AAAU, and its pioneering academic curricula, “the take-off and governing of the University will be through public and private sector arrangement and in the long run would become fully private”
Sirika explained that only two academic sessions as sanctioned by the NUC, will the new intake students in September spend with Nile University thereafter of which, AAAU would have found its footing.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor, of the Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo, said the management of the Nile University was very happy as much as he was, on the take-off of AAAU pioneering students in the Nile University campus.
Prof. Dogo enthused, “After due discussion and intensive negotiation and understanding we have come to the level where officially we can appendage our signature to a MoU that will be mutually beneficial to the two institutions,” he said.
Recall the MoU with Nile University was signed Tuesday, 16th May 2023, and a day after, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, approved the name change from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Nigeria.
Also, it was at the same FEC meeting approval was announced for a leasing company under a public-private partnership, PPP, though a little foggy as the leasing foreign partner organization was in October 2022, announced by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, to have won a bid for the construction, operate and transfer through PPP, a Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul, MRO, hangar for Nigeria.
